The various package types offered by African Sky are explained.
African Sky Favorite
Packages classified as African Sky Favorite are the itineraries we favor for the combination of areas, duration spent in each region, and the activities included. We highly recommend these packages because the itineraries flow well and offer prospective visitors a memorable vacation in Southern Africa.
Our knowledgeable guides accompany private tours in South Africa and Namibia. You will be met at the airport and escorted throughout your journey. These individuals have extensive knowledge of the wildlife, plants, geology, geography, and history of each area visited. The insights they will bring to your vacation in our part of the world are sure to add tremendous value and enjoyment to the entire experience. Almost all private tours include some safari elements.
One of our guides usually leads part of the luxury and top-end services, while resident rangers accompany another part of the adventure at private lodges. When this happens, the itinerary is classified as a Private Tour / Safari Package.
Tours focused on playing rounds of golf on some of the finest courses in South Africa in combination with visiting the highlights in each area visited. A personal African Sky guide partly or wholly accompanies these itinerary types.
Unique Special Interest Tours
Our unique special interest tours are packages that cater to specific interests or visit off-the-beaten-track destinations that are uncommon in the itineraries offered by others. Special interests we cater to include rock art created by ancient peoples of Southern Africa, tours focused on historic battlefields, birdwatching, stargazing, and gastronomical experiences.
Self Drive Tours
Packages classified as self-drive tours are not accompanied. African Sky takes care of all the arrangements and logistics surrounding your vacation. Upon your arrival in South Africa, a representative will meet you at the airport to assist with getting your rental vehicle and answer any questions about the itinerary and logistics.
We offer valuable insights and a range of pre-designed fly-in safari packages to all the top safari areas in Southern Africa. Our team has hundreds of years of combined experience. Whether you are interested in an ultra-luxurious or moderately priced option, we have a package that would be appropriate.
Honeymoons optimize your romantic experience in Southern Africa. The packages we propose are focused on providing enough activity to keep it exciting but also sufficient "alone time" in magical settings. The most popular honeymoon destinations include the Kruger lodges, the Okavango Delta, and northern Namibia. Cape Town and Victoria Falls are also firm favorites.
These packages are designed to offer you a relaxing beach holiday in the southern part of Africa. The beaches and islands of Mozambique, the Garden Route, and the coast of KwaZulu-Natal are favorites. Relax and unwind with your toes in the sand.
If you are traveling with kids, the itinerary must be relaxed yet offer enjoyable, child-friendly activities. Important considerations when designing family vacations are the children's ages, which influence activities and the choice of safari areas. Young children shouldn't travel to Malaria areas. Southern Africa has several exceptional safari areas where malaria is not a concern.
When Should I Book?
When booking an African safari tour, it is imperative to remember that some of the camps and lodges in the countries of Southern Africa are tiny, often with only 4 to 16 rooms. This fact necessitates early booking to ensure your primary choices are available. Reviewing our website's Travel Tips and Advice section is a good idea.
13–18 Months in Advance
Recommended booking time if you want to ensure all first choices are available and the logistics of your trip can be pre-planned with meticulous detail.
6–12 Months in Advance
Not as ideal, but most of the establishments should still have availability. Primary lodge choices might not be available but suitable alternatives can be reserved.
3–5 Months in Advance
Though not ideal, creating an itinerary that flows well and includes acceptable properties will be possible; it is rarely the first choice, but the package will work well.
Short Notice
Don't expect miracles, but we will do our best to assist with accommodation choices that we feel are not inadequate. If not possible, we would ask you your travel dates.
