Clients are met upon arrival at O.R. Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg by a representative of African Sky Safaris & Tours, who will present them with their 16 Day South African Self-Drive Tour itinerary, a map book of South Africa and a GPS. At this time, clients are also presented with accommodation and other relevant vouchers which they will require on their self-drive tour. Clients are then assisted in obtaining their rental vehicle before making their way to the Mpumalanga Highlands and the overnight destination of Mount Sheba.

Your next stop is the world-famous Kruger National Park, where you will enjoy four nights and five days on safari, exploring two distinct areas of the park at your leisure. Kruger is home to the Big Five and 142 other species of mammal, making it a wildlife lover's paradise. Your safari experience extends to the historic Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Game Reserve in KwaZulu-Natal, with a night spent in the Kingdom of Swaziland en route. The reserve also bears the Big Five, and a particularly high concentration of rhinos.

Following your last safari experience at Hluhluwe-iMfolozi, you will drop off your rental vehicle at King Shaka International Airport in Durban and board a flight for George in the Garden Route, where you will acquire a second rental vehicle. Discover the activity-rich Garden Route at your leisure, from the primordial forests of Tsitsikamma to the fine sandy beaches of Plettenberg Bay.

Your route to Cape Town will make a stop in the sleepy seaside town of Arniston, a coastal hamlet tucked away in the Overberg region. If you are traveling between June and November, you are very likely to observe southern right whales splashing about in the bays en route. Your self-drive adventure ends in the Mother City, with her wealth of outdoor adventures, award-winning eateries, and captivating historical intrigue.
