Resident Rangers at Private Game Lodges
Guests are met at Cape Town International or any other location of their choice in Cape Town, from where the safari travels north via the scenic Du Toitskloof Pass to Aquila Private Game Reserve. The reserve is one of the finest places in the Western Cape to experience an authentic African safari. The late afternoon is devoted to a first game drive in this area of unique ecology. Your ranger's knowledge of the behavior and habits of the various species is sure to add greatly to the enjoyment of your experience.
The day is devoted to early morning and late afternoon game drives in search of the many species which grace this part of Southern Africa. In addition to the various plains game animals, the reserve is also home to the Big Five (lion, buffalo, leopard, elephant and rhino). Sightings of the most imposing of the African mammals at close quarters are sure to be a highlight. Excellent examples of rock art may also be observed throughout your Cape safari.
The day is once again devoted to two open 4x4 safaris in the company of your experienced ranger. The lodge is named after the rare Black Eagle, which is endemic to the southern Karoo. A sighting of one of these graceful birds in its natural habitat may be one of the days' highlights.
A last morning game drive is followed by breakfast, after which guests depart en route to Cape Town. Before returning to South Africa’s Mother City, a visit is made to two wineries where some of South Africa's finest wines may be sampled in surroundings which can only be described as breathtaking. The safari returns to Cape Town during the late afternoon.
