Clients are met upon arrival at O.R. Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg by a representative of African Sky Safaris & Tours who will present them with their Northern Route Self-Drive Tour itinerary, a map book of South Africa and a GPS. At this time, clients are also presented with accommodation and other relevant vouchers which they will require on their self-drive tour. Clients are then assisted in obtaining their rental vehicle before making their way to the Pilanesberg National Park.

Pilanesberg offers a fine introduction to South Africa's safari scene. Home to the Big Five and numerous other species of mammals, birds, and reptiles, the reserve enjoys very convenient access not far from your arrival point in Johannesburg or Pretoria. You'll experience two nights on safari at Bakubung Bush Lodge, before moving on to the sprawling Sun City resort a stone's throw from Pilanesberg.

Your three nights and four days at Sun City may be spent however you wish. Try your luck in one of the many casinos, watch a live performance, play a round of golf on one of the two Gary Player-designed championship golf courses, while away your hours in the exhilarating Valley of the Waves waterpark, hike through a captivating man-made forest, visit the nearby crocodile farm or simply unwind in these unique surroundings.

Mount Sheba is the next stop on your self-drive tour. It is an enchanting overnight destination en route to the Kruger National Park, tucked away in the forests of the Mpumalanga Highlands. You will then enjoy three nights of safari splendor in the world-renowned Kruger National Park. Relish the thrill of spotting wildlife all on your own. Keep your eyes peeled and remember to obey park rules at all times.
