The Garden Route Self-Drive Tour which focuses on the beautiful coastal region between Mossel Bay and Port Elizabeth.
Clients are met upon arrival at Cape Town International Airport by a representative of African Sky Safaris & Tours, who will present them with their self-drive Garden Route tour itinerary, a map book of South Africa and a GPS. At this time clients are also presented with accommodation and other relevant vouchers which they will require on their self-drive tour. Guests are then assisted in obtaining their rental vehicle before making their way through the wine-producing region to the Little Karoo.
Two nights are spent amidst the unearthly quiet of the Little Karoo, a spectacular semi-arid desert with evening skies of dazzling silver. Opt to visit the fascinating subterranean chambers of the Cango Caves, or stop at the Cango Wildlife Ranch for an encounter with a cheetah or a lemur. If you've selected a hardier, 4x4 rental vehicle, venture through the awe-inspiring Swartberg Pass and enjoy a day trip to the charming Karoo town of Prince Albert.
With three nights and four days to indulge in adventures in the Garden Route, you'll find yourself spoilt for choice. Leap off the world's highest commercial bungee, explore the Knysna forests on elephant back, walk alongside a cheetah, swim in the sea with wild seals, go dolphin watching or simply stretch out on the sands of one of the area's fine beaches.
En route back to Cape Town, you'll spend a serene evening in the sleepy fishing village of Arniston. This Overberg town is known for its massive, rambling dunes, and the unique Waenhuiskrans Caves. When driving between Cape Town and Arniston (if you're visiting between June and November), keep a lookout for southern right whales splashing about in the Atlantic Ocean.
