Highlights & What to Expect

  • Prime Okavango location on Xaxaba Island with year-round delta vistas.
  • Water safaris by mokoro and powerboat when water levels allow (typically Jun–Sep).
  • Seasonal day & night game drives led by expert guides.
  • Signature helicopter safaris; optional horseback + helicopter adventure for experienced riders.
  • Each of the 12 tented rooms includes a private deck and plunge pool.
  • Refined dining and sundowners at the atmospheric Fish Eagle Bar.
  • Guided nature walks and exceptional birdwatching and stargazing.

Location & Setting

The lodge occupies secluded Xaxaba Island in the Okavango Delta, a UNESCO-listed wetland reached by light aircraft from Maun in roughly twenty minutes. Fringed by ilala palms and shaded by mature riverside trees, the setting overlooks permanent water channels alive with hippo and prolific birdlife. Seasonal floods (usually June to September) transform the surrounding floodplains into a shimmering maze ideal for mokoro and boating. A private airstrip and heli-pad simplify arrivals and unlock scenic flights, while the Fish Eagle Bar and open-air decks frame cinematic sunsets over the lagoon.

Rooms

Eagle Island features 12 contemporary tented rooms on raised timber platforms beneath thatch. Interiors are light-filled and generously sized, with oversized beds, discreet air-conditioning and a walk-in wardrobe. Bathrooms combine an indoor tub and shower with a walled outdoor shower that frames the delta. Each room opens to a large private deck crowned by a rim-flow plunge pool—ideal for cooling off between activities. Thoughtful touches include a fully-stocked minibar, bathrobes and same-day laundry, while panoramic lagoon views remind you that wildlife is never far away.

Facilities

The lodge blends contemporary comfort with a relaxed safari spirit. Central areas include an open-air restaurant for breakfasts and lunches, barbecue evenings around the firepit, a TV lounge and reference library, and a curated curio shop. Spa treatments can be enjoyed in-room or on your private deck to the sounds of the delta. Beyond the rooms’ plunge pools, social life gravitates to the celebrated Fish Eagle Bar for sunset cocktails. A private airstrip and heli-pad support smooth logistics and spectacular scenic flights across the meandering waterways.
