Highlights & What to Expect
- From Sandibe, two daily game drives explore the surrounding wilderness. Predators, including lions and leopards, elephant and buffalo herds, aquatic wildlife such as crocodiles and hippos, and abundant antelope species are frequently sighted.
- Awaken your senses on a guided walking safari in the company of armed ranges to view wildlife from a different perspective.
- Meet with an African wild dog conservation team member and learn about the plight of this endangered species. Almost a third of the current wild dog population is protected in the Moremi and the Okavango Delta.
- An on-sight helicopter offers aerial safaris over the Delta that provide a unique perspective to savor endless views over read-lined channels, well-wooded islands, lagoons, and the animals that inhabit this landscape.
Location & Setting
Sandibe is built on the edge of a waterway in a private 22,500-hectare concession in the heart of the Okavango Delta. The concession borders Moremi Game Reserve. This area, where the Okavango River empties into the sands of the Kalahari, is one of Africa's most pristine and untouched safari areas.
Rooms
Twelve thatched safari cottages in a shady forest provide Sandibe Okavango Safari Lodge accommodation. Each room is en suite and has an outdoor shower. The cottages are decorated in a mixture of ocher and tactile textures, with a screen wall opening onto extraordinary views of the wetlands and savanna. Each cottage has a raised deck and private plunge pool overlooking the Santanadibe River. Each unit is equipped with an overhead fan.
Facilities
A swimming pool in the middle of the forest allows guests to unwind during their safari. Under the trees, a sitting and dining area is lit by candles and lanterns, creating an ideal setting for enjoying well-prepared dinners. Alternatively, guests can dine on the deck of their safari cottage. The central areas are comfortable and handsomely decorated in earthy tones.
