Sossusvlei Lodge is a true oasis in the harsh Namibian desert landscape.  It is located in the world’s oldest desert, the Namib, and at the entrance to the Namib-Naukluft National Park. The harsh and unforgiving landscape surrounding the lodge has a stark, but special beauty of its own. The timeless environment has barely changed over millennia, and there is perhaps no better breakaway from the modern world than this lodge in the sprawling desert in southern Namibia.

Sossusvlei Lodge was constructed with the environment in mind, and used eco-friendly building methods and materials. There are 45 spacious accommodation units. The interiors of the rooms feature natural wood and adobe plaster, complemented by canvas to give it a luxury tent feel. At the same time, modern amenities such as air-conditioning, an in-room safe and a tea and coffee station make every room a plush hideaway from the unforgiving elements. Every unit contains its own en suite bathroom, complete with shower, toilet and washbasin. Some units have interleading doors between the bathrooms, and can serve as family-friendly accommodations.

A wide variety of activities are available to enjoy in the area surrounding Sossusvlei Lodge. The main reason why most people visit is to experience and photograph the dunes and captivating desert scenery. This can be done in a number of different ways, most popular being exploring via specially modified all-terrain game viewing vehicles driven by experienced guides, who will also enlighten guests about the local fauna and flora. The most sought-after guided excursion is into Sossusvlei to view Dune 45, which enjoys the status of being the most photographed dune in the world.

Excursions also go to Sesriem Canyon, on nature drives and for sundowner trips. For a bird’s eye view, there is the option of going on a hot air balloon, helicopter or a six-seater aircraft. Guided nature walks are available for those who are willing to take on the desert first-hand and quad bike trips for those after an adrenalin rush.
