Location & Setting
Onguma Forest Camp lies inside the 34,000-hectare Onguma Nature Reserve, a short drive from Etosha’s eastern Von Lindequist Gate near Namutoni. Sheltered by mature woodland beside the Omuramba (dry riverbed), the camp feels private and tranquil while remaining a convenient springboard for Etosha game viewing. Typical transfers or self-drives reach the reserve easily, and many itineraries pair Forest Camp with other Onguma properties. From camp, guests join sunrise or afternoon outings on the reserve, with Etosha excursions available daily when conditions and park hours allow.
Rooms
The camp offers eleven units in four categories: four compact Heritage Bungalows, three roomier Explorer Bungalows, three two-bedroom Bush Suites suited to families, and one secluded Honeymoon Bungalow. All include en-suite facilities, air-conditioning, mosquito nets, tea/coffee, and a veranda; Explorer and Honeymoon units add extra space, with the Honeymoon enjoying outdoor bathing features. Bush Suites provide a separate lounge/second bedroom layout that can sleep children comfortably. Interiors favor neutral tones and classic safari textures, creating a calm retreat between activities.
Facilities
Central areas include an open-sided lounge, bar, and restaurant that look onto a small waterhole, plus a swimming pool for midday heat. A curated wine cellar enhances dinners, while a library, curio shop, fire-pit and shaded decks round out the social spaces. Activity options typically include guided reserve drives, walking safaris, sessions at the Onkolo photographic hide, and full- or half-day guided trips into Etosha; self-driving into the park is also possible for confident travelers.
