Location & Setting
Camp Kala lies within the 34,000-hectare Onguma Nature Reserve on Etosha’s eastern boundary, a short drive from Von Lindequist Gate. Elevated walkways link central decks and dining to just four suites, all angled toward a productive, floodlit waterhole for effortless, in-camp viewing. Being on a private reserve adds flexibility—guides can offer walks and sundowner or night drives—while Etosha’s famed pans and waterholes are easily reached on daytime excursions. Access is straightforward for self-drivers via the eastern gate, and fly-ins connect via Onguma/Mokuti airstrips with quick road transfers to camp.
Rooms
Each expansive suite pairs natural textures with modern comforts: a king/twin bed, indoor lounge and a generous bathroom with double vanity, freestanding tub and walk-in shower. Sliding glass opens to a wide viewing deck; outside you’ll find a private plunge pool, a wood-fired hot tub, an outdoor shower and a shaded sala with a king-size daybed for siestas or sleep-outs. Practical touches include air-conditioning, tea/coffee facilities, a personal bar, safe and Wi-Fi. The elevated boardwalks preserve privacy and keep the focus on the waterhole and open savanna beyond.
Facilities
Central spaces flow between a stylish lounge, bar and dining area to broad viewing decks set above the waterhole. A dedicated water-level photographic hide offers dramatic, eye-level encounters when conditions allow. Wellness is covered with a massage room and a compact gym/yoga deck, while stargazing after dinner is superb in the clear desert skies. Activities are split between Onguma (guided walks, sundowner and night drives) and Etosha (day drives), creating a rounded, high-comfort safari without sacrificing the camp’s hallmark privacy and tranquility.
