Location & Setting

Onguma Bush Camp sits within the private Onguma Nature Reserve on the eastern boundary of Etosha National Park, close to the Von Lindequist Gate. The lodge overlooks a productive, floodlit waterhole that attracts plains game and predators, allowing effortless wildlife viewing between activities. As the only fenced camp on the reserve, it suits families who want peace of mind without compromising access to Etosha’s renowned pans and waterholes. Self-drivers can reach the camp easily, and fly-in guests connect via Onguma/Mokuti airstrips with short road transfers to the lodge’s elevated decks, pool and inviting central areas.

Rooms

The camp offers 18 air-conditioned rooms in several categories to match different party sizes and budgets. Options include traditional rondavels, standard rooms (three with loft sleeping areas for children), deluxe/waterhole-view rooms, three family units with four beds, and the larger Settler’s Room. Expect en-suite bathrooms, mosquito nets and tea/coffee facilities, with private sitting areas or verandas to enjoy the bush ambiance. Layouts are intentionally practical rather than ultra-luxury, keeping the focus on comfort, family convenience and access to Etosha’s wildlife. Wi-Fi hotspots allow light connectivity without distracting from the wilderness experience.

Facilities

Central areas include a thatched lounge, bar and relaxed dining spaces opening to a deck that faces the waterhole—great for breakfast views and floodlit sightings after dinner. A swimming pool with loungers offers a cool midday retreat. The lodge operates with a strong family orientation, adding lawns and a small kids’ area. Practical touches include a curio/safari shop and free Wi-Fi hotspots. Activity options span Etosha game drives, Onguma sunrise/sundowner and night drives, interpretive bush walks with armed guides, the Onkolo hide for low-angle photography, and a supervised Young Explorers walk for children (age rules apply).
