Location & Setting
Ai-Aiba lies within the Erongo Mountain Nature Conservancy near Omaruru, where colossal granite inselbergs are the weathered remains of a 130-million-year-old volcanic complex. Elevated viewpoints take in boulder-strewn valleys rich in San rock art and desert-adapted wildlife. It also works well as a waypoint—roughly midway between Windhoek and Swakopmund, or en route to Etosha—making it both a practical and spectacular stop on a wider Namibia itinerary.
Rooms
The lodge offers 20 thatched rooms—some configured for families—all air-conditioned and en-suite with walk-in showers. Each has a private veranda plus useful touches like tea/coffee facilities, a minibar and an in-room safe. Décor draws on regional textures and warm woods, creating a cool refuge after hikes or drives. Several rooms face dramatic granite outcrops, where sunrise light and evening birdsong bookend unhurried days.
Facilities
Between guided activities, guests unwind at the swimming pool and sun deck or linger in the restaurant and bar, where hearty, home-style meals are served. The lodge arranges rock-art nature drives, guided morning and sundowner walks, visits to the nearby San Living Museum, and guided cycling for a more active take on the landscape. Clear desert nights make stargazing a simple pleasure from the terrace.
