Location & Setting

Coral Lodge occupies a scenic peninsula near Ilha de Moçambique, a UNESCO World Heritage site steeped in centuries of Indian Ocean trade. One side opens to a broad Indian Ocean beach; the other to a sheltered mangrove lagoon, creating gentle waters ideal for kayaking and family swims. Guests commonly visit the historic island by boat or road for fortresses, chapels and markets, then return for sundowners among the baobabs. Expect tidal flats, clear shallows and frequent sightings of passing humpbacks in season.

Rooms

The lodge features 10 villas in beach, lagoon and family configurations, blending timber and canvas with high thatch lines and wide decks. Interiors are light and uncluttered, with air-conditioning, fans, minibars and tea/coffee facilities. Family villas add a second bedroom suited to two children. Private dining on the deck is easily arranged, and in-villa spa treatments make the most of ocean breezes and sunset light. Views take in rolling surf on the ocean side or calm mangroves across the lagoon, both within steps of the sand.

Facilities

Central spaces include an ocean-facing pool with loungers, a relaxed restaurant and bar, and Wi-Fi in social areas. Activities revolve around the water: dhow sailing, guided snorkeling, fishing and seasonal whale and dolphin outings; diving can be arranged with nearby operators. On land, picnics under baobabs, guided walks and cultural tours to Ilha de Moçambique round out the day. Wellness is offered as in-villa treatments rather than a formal spa complex, keeping the experience intimate and unhurried.
