Savute Elephant Lodge is located in Botswana's unique Savute wilderness area.
Savute Elephant Lodge is found in the Savute area of the Chobe National Park in Botswana. Chobe is home to the highest concentration of elephant in the world. it offers some of the finest opportunities for viewing these giants in their natural habitat. Savute is an area with very little rainfall; water is precious. The camp is set overlooking the Savute Channel which started flowing in 2011 after a dry spell which lasted more than 25 years.
Set in an oasis-type setting, 12 luxurious tents provide clients with luxury accommodation in this remote wilderness. Each tent is equipped with an en suite bathroom, as well as a room with a four-poster bed covered by a mosquito net. The tents offer all the luxuries of a suite, including air-conditioning, mini bar and a small safe. The tents are raised on a wooden platform, with a wooden deck where guests can relax on easy chairs or in a hammock. All the tents have traditional thatched roofs to provide shading from the African sun.
The main lodge at Savute Elephant Lodge features a comfortable lounge and dining area as well as a swimming pool. Dinner can be enjoyed in the traditional boma under one of Africa's most lovely night skies. Your stay is sure to be one of the most memorable during your safari in Botswana.
From Maun via Johannesburg's O R Tambo International Airport, guests are chartered to the remarkable Savute Elephant Lodge near Chobe National Park for their Botswana safari. Encounter a remarkable crash of wildlife during 4x4 open-air vehicle game drives, from the big cats stalking unwary prey to the awesome herds of elephant that frequent the waterhole beneath the gaze of the camp.
Set tread to the earth and follow a guide to the ancient baobab sentinels of historic San rock paintings for an authentic safari experience. Revel in the inviting waters of the camp's pool, or guzzle a cocktail on the deck overlooking the waterhole. Unwind in the privacy of your tented suite in the wispy hold of a hammock or explore the curio shop and camp library. Dinners are starlit and traditional, prompting a warm fireside experience in the Savute boma.
Savute is my favorite safari area in Botswana, especially now that the channel is flowing. During my last visit in April of 2012, we had no less than eight different leopard sightings in a four day period. Nowhere in Botswana have I seen plains game herds the size of those in Savute. At Savute Elephant Lodge, you will experience the finest lodge accommodation available in the area, and game drives that will bring you into contact with an amazing amount of wildlife. It is one of Africa's finest safari destinations.Read More
