Khwai River Lodge counts amongst the finest lodges for a safari in Botswana's Okavango Delta.
The lodge's luxury tents are constructed on raised wooden platforms and have large private decks. The tents are all covered with large thatched roofs to keep them cool and dry. Guests can laze around on easy chairs or the hammocks on their private decks, watching the wildlife pass by. All luxury tents have an en suite bathroom and typical suite facilities, such as air-conditioning, a writing table and tea/coffee facilities.
A safari at Khwai is characterized by delicious cuisine, served in the covered dining room or on your private deck. The lodge features a comfortable lounge and a heated swimming pool. Stargazing with a telescope is provided for surplus safari magic.
Safari activities are conducted in the early morning and late afternoon. Guests are accompanied by an experienced ranger and tracker in one of the most remarkable wilderness areas in Africa.
Guests are transported by air to Maun from OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg for their Botswana safari. Upon arrival, guests are transferred to Khwai River Lodge beside the Okavango Delta's Moremi Game Reserve for a premier African safari experience. Revel in striking sightings of the Big Five in this wilderness frontier, from overland game drives in the still-crisp hours of the morning to moonlight safaris in the blackout of the bush. Alternatively, wander through the delta on foot and get up close and personal with nature.
This safari package caters for adventurers as well as leisure-lovers. Signature Africology spa treatments will revitalize the spirit. The lodge's 20m pool can serve as both a cool liberation from the African sun or a berth to reduce the damage of the delicious African cuisine. Spend your evenings discovering the stellar treasures of the Milky Way with the lodge's potent telescope.
An incredible safari in Botswana awaits those who travel to Khwai River Lodge. Its location just outside the Moremi Game Reserve puts it in an area with a lot of animal movement. I had the privilege of staying at Khwai River Lodge with my father a few years ago. The game viewing is excellent. In my opinion, it is better to stay at a lodge in the Okavango Delta area that offers only open 4x4 game drives, or one that offers both land- and water-based game-viewing, as opposed to lodges at which only water-based game viewing is available.Read More
