Location & Setting
Safari Hoek crowns a rocky hill within the vast Etosha Heights Private Reserve on Etosha’s southwestern flank. From the decks and pool you scan open savanna where zebra, giraffe and elephant drift across long, golden views. Access is typically overland—just over 120 km from Andersson Gate—making the lodge a natural pairing with southern Etosha or Damaraland. The private-reserve setting means fewer vehicles, flexible timings, and night drives, while proximity to Etosha keeps wildlife densities high. Evenings bring painterly sunsets and quiet, star-packed skies that frame the silhouettes of the surrounding hills.
Rooms
Eleven elevated chalets—eight Luxury, two Classic and one Family—face the plains from timber platforms, each with a private viewing deck. Interiors blend clean lines and natural textures; all are air-conditioned and en-suite, with generous showers, good storage and easy charging. Luxury chalets add outdoor showers for starlit rinses after dusty game drives. Thoughtful touches—complimentary coffee/tea setups, mosquito protection, and blackout drapes—make early starts and midday rests easy. The Family unit provides two bedrooms for extra space. Everywhere, the focus remains on the views: first light over the plains and unhurried wildlife watching right from your deck.
Facilities
The thatch-and-stone main area flows between lounge, bar and dining room to a broad deck wrapped around a pool—prime for sunset colors and midday cool-offs. Wi-Fi is available in central spaces, and a small bar outside keeps the social pulse going between drives. A sunken photographic hide sits near a waterhole for eye-level encounters, while guides arrange bush breakfasts or dinners on request. Cultural excursions add context to the landscape and its communities. After dark, night drives scan for elusive creatures—aardvark, porcupine, leopard—before guests wind down under immense, quiet skies.
