Location & Setting

Khwai Leadwood sits within the community-run Khwai Concession on a bend of the Khwai River, facing the game-rich fringes of Moremi Game Reserve. Floodplains, riparian woodland and mopane thickets create a productive mosaic for elephants, predators and plains game moving between protected areas. Access is typically via light aircraft to Khwai airstrip from Maun or Kasane, followed by a short road transfer. Shaded decks beneath leadwood and fig trees look across the river, where sundowner views and frequent wildlife traffic keep the action in front of camp.

Rooms

The camp hosts seven elegantly styled tents, including one family unit, positioned for privacy and river views. Interiors blend woven basketry and natural textures with practical comforts such as proper beds, fans and charging points. Each tent has an en-suite bathroom with a rain shower and flush toilet, plus a private deck for watching wildlife drift past between activities. Large mesh windows invite breezes and birdsong, while thoughtful details—like quality linens and ample storage—keep the experience relaxed and unpretentious for couples, families and solo travelers alike.

Facilities

Central spaces revolve around an open lounge and dining area that spill onto a wide deck overlooking the river. A swimming pool offers a cool pause between drives, and a small safari shop stocks essentials and keepsakes. Meals are hearty and unfussy, with al fresco options when weather allows. Activity programming is flexible—day and night drives, guided walks and, when water levels allow, mokoro—so your guide can dial in the best sightings. Families benefit from Ngwana Club activities tailored to curious young explorers.
