Olifants Rest Camp in the Kruger National Park is situated several hundred feet above the Olifants River. Its viewing platforms provides unrestricted views of the river and bushveld below. The rest camp offers a spectacular window to Africa during a Kruger Park safari, which makes it a firm favorite among Kruger regulars.

Olifants Rest Camp has a multitude of accommodation possibilities, including 100 two- or three-bed bungalows, two four-bed units and the Lebombo and Nshawu guest houses, which have the best panoramic views from several lookout platforms. The accommodation at Olifants Rest Camp is geared towards those looking for a self-catered Kruger Park safari, although a restaurant, cafeteria and a small convenience and curio shop are available. A filling station, shops and laundromat form part of the infrastructure at Olifants Rest Camp.

The camp offers guided game drives for those over the age of six years and guided bush walks for those over the age of 12, all in the company of experienced and professional field guides. The river walk that traces the handsome spine of the the Olifants is one of the more unique and rewarding bush walk experiences available in the park.

Olifants is my favorite rest camp in the Kruger Park. The camp has a wonderful setting overlooking the Olifants River from an elevated position on a hill. The views are spectacular, the accommodation basic but comfortable and, as far as I am concerned, the game viewing to the south en route to Satara is the best in Kruger.
