Highlights & What to Expect

  • Elevated setting with expansive views over the Olifants River valley and floodplain.
  • Flexible game-drive positioning between mopane country to the north and open plains to the south.
  • SANParks-led sunrise, sunset and night drives plus guided bush walks bookable in camp.
  • Restaurant with river-facing deck, curio/convenience shop, fuel station and resident-only pool.
  • Reliable elephant, hippo and crocodile viewing along the river; rewarding raptor and cliff-edge birding.
  • Self-catering friendly with braai facilities and options for units with kitchenettes or communal kitchens.

Location & Setting

Set on a prominent hill in central Kruger National Park, the camp overlooks a long reach of the Olifants River, with the Lebombo range rising to the east and mixed savanna and mopane woodland spreading north and south. The vantage points offer wide panoramas ideal for scanning for elephants, hippos and crocodiles below, while raptors and swifts work the thermals along the cliffs. Tarmac and gravel routes radiate in several directions, making Olifants a convenient base for day drives exploring contrasting habitats.

Rooms

Accommodation centers on thatched bungalows and larger guest options suited to couples, families and small groups. Most tourist units include private bathrooms and air-conditioning; some have kitchenettes, while others use well-equipped communal kitchens. Guest houses occupy prime positions with broad river views and generous living areas. On hosted safaris, we match unit types to group size and preferences—prioritizing outlooks, proximity to amenities, and easy access to early-morning activity meeting points.

Facilities

Facilities include a licensed restaurant with a river-facing deck, a convenience/curio shop, fuel station, laundromat and a residents-only swimming pool. Reception can arrange SANParks-guided sunrise, sunset and night drives and guided bush walks led by qualified field guides. Self-catering is well supported with communal kitchens and braai areas for units without private facilities. Connectivity is limited and typically concentrated in public areas, so it’s best not to rely on camp-wide Wi-Fi during your stay.
