Personal Four Star
Overberg, South Africa
No of Rooms:

The Arniston Hotel is located in the Overberg region of South Africa about two and a half hours' drive from Cape Town. It is an ideal destination for visitors exploring the 'whale route'. The hotel offers spectacular views of where the Atlantic and Indian oceans meet, as well as the white beaches that line the shore. Numerous shipwrecks are found along this coastline. The town of Arniston was named after one of these unfortunate vessels which ran aground not far from town.

The luxury four star Arniston Hotel hosts guests in 60 stylishly decorated rooms. The rooms feature crisp, white linens combined with ocean hues to create an inviting ambiance. The deluxe sea-facing rooms have their own private balconies with uninterrupted views of the clear blue waters of the bay.  All rooms are en suite and most have a fireplace for chilly winter evenings. The rooms are equipped with tea and coffee facilities and include wireless internet access.

The hotel serves delicious seafood and delectable blends of traditional South African cuisine. A cozy wine cellar can be booked for an intimate private dinner experience. To enhance their stay, guests may opt to explore the surroundings and take a stroll to the harbor where they can watch fishing boats or visit the small fishing village of Kassiesbaai. One can also walk to the Waenhuiskrans Caves at low tide, or take a longer walk to Struis Point, Galjoengat or the De Mond Nature Reserve. There are many good fishing spots in the area and deep-sea fishing trips may be arranged. The waters are safe for swimming, but temperatures can be quite chilly!

Riaan's Review

In my opinion, Arniston Hotel is located in one of the most interesting off-the-beaten-track areas in South Africa. The hotel has undergone a major refurbishment in recent years. It offers fine four star accommodation on the shores of Arniston Bay, with its azure blue waters. This bay is a great place for whale watching between June and November. The coastline is amongst the most scenic in South Africa. We utilize the hotel in itineraries that travel between Cape Town and the Garden Route.
