Location & Setting

The landscape mixes dramatic rocky ridges, riverine forest and open grassland, providing diverse habitats for Big Five and rare species. The reserve is entirely malaria-free and strictly limited to lodge vehicles, ensuring uncrowded sightings and a peaceful atmosphere. By road it is about three and a half to four hours from Johannesburg to the reserve, then 30 to 40 minutes by lodge vehicle to Sediba. Charter flights land at airstrips in the reserve.

Rooms

Ten spacious and private suites overlook the Waterberg landscape from elevated timber decks, each featuring a heated jacuzzi, lounge area, fireplace and en-suite bathroom. Interiors combine natural stone and timber with contemporary South African styling to create a warm, intimate atmosphere. The suites are air-conditioned, with floor-to-ceiling glass doors opening to uninterrupted wilderness views. Indoor and outdoor relaxation areas provide space to unwind between game drives, making the lodge ideal for guests seeking both privacy and creature comfort in a quiet, nature-immersive setting.

Welgevonden takes no day visitors, so the roads stay quiet. Winter mornings in the Waterberg are cold and clear, the time of year when the heated jacuzzis on the decks get the most use.
