Luangwa River Camp offers four star safari accommodation in Zambia's South Luangwa.
Luangwa River Camp is set beneath the dark spines of an ancient ebony grove on the banks of the Luangwa River. This part of the river overlooks the wildlife-rich region known as the Luangwa Wafwa. The wonderfully intimate camp hosts only five thatched bush suites, ensuring an exclusive experience of the South Luangwa National Park.
The suites are suitably spacious, enjoying luxuries such as sunken bathtubs and large personal verandas to enjoy the view from. The decor is simple and handsome, defined by dark wooden accents and fresh whites. Meals are included on a full board basis, ensuring you will never have to leave the wild comfort of the bush.
With around 40 mammal species and more than 400 recorded bird species, South Luangwa is a wildlife lover’s paradise. The safari activities available include game drives twice a day and encountering game on foot. These walking safaris are led by the camp’s knowledgeable guides and armed scouts. Relax in the pool between your adventures and observe animals arriving at the riverbank to sate their thirst or indulge in a dip.
Additional activities range from cultural endeavors like visits to the nearby Kawaza Village, the local school and tribal textile shopping to seasonal boating on the Luangwa River. This activity is exclusively available in what is known as ‘the Emerald Season’, when the river fills out into lagoons, and truly enhances the game viewing experience.
