Luangwa River Camp

Location & Setting

The camp is on the banks of the Luangwa River within the Luangwa Valley, a branch of Africa’s Great Rift System. South Luangwa National Park is one of the continent’s premier conservation areas, known for high densities of wildlife and outstanding safari experiences. The camp is open from 1 April to 30 November.

Rooms

The five bush suites are spacious and feature bathtubs and large private verandas overlooking the river. Décor is simple and handsome, with dark wood accents and fresh whites. A full-board dining plan keeps you comfortably based in the bush between activities.

One suite has a king bed and four are twin rooms, each cooled by stand-alone fans. Children over 7 are welcome, and younger children only when a family books the whole camp.

Facilities

South Luangwa supports over 60 mammal species and more than 450 recorded bird species. Activities include twice-daily game drives and guided walking safaris led by knowledgeable guides and armed scouts. Between outings, relax at the plunge pool overlooking the river and watch wildlife along the bank.

The camp sits just outside the park boundary. When the river is at its lowest, vehicles drive straight across from camp, and at other times a boat makes the crossing. Wi-Fi is available in the main area.
