Location & Setting
The lodge sits within the Ongava Game Reserve along Etosha’s southern boundary, offering elevated views across open plains and a wildlife-frequented waterhole. Access is straightforward by road from Windhoek—about 430 km on good surfaces—or by light aircraft to Ongava’s airstrip with short road transfers to camp. Being on a private reserve opposite Etosha’s Ombika (Andersson) Gate places guests close to classic Etosha pans and waterholes while preserving the flexibility of private-land activities such as guided walks and night drives back on Ongava.
Rooms
Little Ongava comprises three expansive thatch-roofed villas designed for maximum privacy and views. Each features a spacious lounge—often with a fireplace—opening to a large deck with a private infinity-style plunge pool and a shaded sala. Bathrooms are indulgent, with freestanding tubs plus indoor and outdoor showers. Thoughtful touches typically include air-conditioning, minibar, tea and coffee facilities and an electronic safe. Elevated positions look towards a nearby waterhole, so game viewing continues from your deck between guided activities.
Facilities
Central areas blend stone and thatch with contemporary comfort, including a lounge and dining area set for uninterrupted plains views. Dining is typically à la carte with attentive hosting, and a bar serves sundowners before dinner. While each villa has its own plunge pool, in-room wellness treatments or simple spa services are often available by arrangement. The reserve’s private setting allows flexible scheduling of game drives, guided walks and rhino tracking, while day excursions into neighboring Etosha deliver the park’s famed big-game encounters.
