Fugitives Drift Lodge offers luxury accommodation in spacious free-standing cottages set in a beautiful established garden with splendid views of the plains flanking the Buffalo River Gorge. Each cottage is equipped with an en suite bathroom and a private verandah - ideal for enjoying sundowners at the end of a long day exploring.

The lodge is located on an estate of 5 000 acres with about 20km of river frontage on the Buffalo River. The estate offers game viewing, bird watching and horse riding. The primary activities, however, are the daily tours to the famous battlefields of the Anglo-Zulu War, led by some of the most knowledgeable guides on the subject.

This war started in 1879 and is famous internationally for the battles of Isandlwana and Rorke's Drift. At Isandlwana, the British empire suffered its greatest defeat at the hands of an indigenous people when they where defeated by the Zulu army. At Rorke's Drift, a handful of brave British soldiers repelled wave after wave of Zulu attackers numbering in the thousands. More Victoria Crosses where awarded after the battle of Rorke's Drift than any other battle in British military history.

Fugitives Drift Lodge is an ideal destination for those seeking to combine relaxation in an area of pristine natural beauty with exploring the rich history and battlefields of this region of South Africa in the company of extremely knowledgeable guides.
