Overview of Long Lee Manor

Long Lee Manor commands elevated views across the open plains of Shamwari Private Game Reserve, placing guests at the heart of a celebrated, malaria-free Big Five wilderness.

Location & Setting

The lodge’s landscaped gardens, sweeping lawns and classic verandas provide a serene counterpoint to the rugged Eastern Cape terrain beyond. Its position balances easy access with a true sense of escape: guests drive out from Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth), and the lodge pairs easily with the Garden Route or coastal stays. Sunrise and late-afternoon light pour over the surrounding grasslands, setting the stage for unhurried game viewing and elegant, manor-style hospitality.

Rooms

Accommodation spans a two-bedroom family suite with its own plunge pool, two Manor House suites with balconies, eleven Plains rooms with outdoor showers and four interleading Garden rooms. Expect king-size beds, air-conditioning, en-suite bathrooms with bath and shower, minibars and private balconies or terraces where plains views take center stage. The family suite sleeps up to four adults and two children aged 6 to 11. Interiors draw on Edwardian cues, with light palettes and tasteful detailing, and modern conveniences keep the stay easy between game drives. The result is refined, quietly luxurious lodging that matches the manor’s gracious personality without overwhelming the sense of place.

Lovingly restored, Long Lee Manor joins the original Edwardian manor house to contemporary comforts. Central spaces include elegant lounges, dining rooms and shaded verandas that open to expansive decks and a rim-flow pool overlooking the reserve. A fitness center and a relaxation retreat with three treatment rooms cater to wellness, while a boutique stocks quality essentials and keepsakes. Manicured gardens, firelit evenings and attentive service anchor the manor’s leisurely pace. Between activities, guests can relax with a book, enjoy a quiet swim or sip something cold as wildlife grazes in view.

The two Manor House suites and the family suite come with butler service, and on fine evenings dinner moves to the boma overlooking the waterhole. Long Lee has no children’s center of its own, so families are taken across to the Kids on Safari Adventure Centre at Riverdene, Shamwari’s family lodge.
