The 4-star Marine Hotel is located in Port Elizabeth. It overlooks the sandy Pollock Beach and has spectacular views of Algoa Bay. Port Elizabeth is renowned for its high number of sunshine days. The city is an important port and a popular tourist destination in South Africa.
The Marine Hotel hosts guests in 64 standard bedrooms in the tower block with an additional 34 executive rooms, suites and loft apartments. The standard rooms have all the basic amenities, such as air-conditioning, en suite bathrooms, televisions and tea/coffee facilities. The club rooms are slightly larger than the standard rooms with an added kitchenette, whereas the family suites all have two bathrooms, one en suite and the other separate for the children. The loft apartments (one-bedroom and two-bedroom suites) are ideal for families traveling to this coastal city.
Many different dining options are available at the Marine Hotel in Port Elizabeth. Start and end your day at the La Mer Restaurant, which serves mouth-watering buffet breakfasts as well as dinners every day of the week. The Deck Cocktail Bar is the perfect location for a delicious sundowner, while enjoying the sun set over the ocean. For a seafood feast, the De Kelder Seafood Restaurant has the best selection and the freshest seafood in Port Elizabeth.
I have to admit that Port Elizabeth is not high on any list I have of great places in South Africa to visit. I would only recommend staying in Port Elizabeth on overland tours between Addo Elephant National Park and the Garden Route region located around the town of Knysna. On these occasions, the Marine Port Elizabeth is a good choice of four star hotel that offers a comfortable stay and good food. It has the advantage of overlooking the the Indian Ocean and being close to some of the finest beaches in Port Elizabeth.
