Botswana's Okavango Delta is one of Africa's Seven Natural Wonders and should be on every visitor's bucket list. This great oasis in the Kalahari Desert is home to thousands of animals of many species, some of them permanent residents, others migratory. Water from rains falling in central Africa slowly winds its way south for more than a thousand miles, finally crossing the Gumare fault line and fanning out into a great inland delta of crystal clear water. The water level is constantly fluctuating. A lodge that offers 4x4 game drives at one time of year might not be able to do so year-round. The same is true for mokoro(dugout canoe), boating activities, and nature walks. Not all channels are perennial, determining where animals like hippos and crocodiles congregate.
