Gorah Elephant Camp is an Addo Game Lodge and is the first private concession in a National Park. This lodge is found in the Eastern Cape’s famous malaria-free park, the Addo Elephant National Park.The Park is home to 400 elephant and is the park in South Africa with the highest density of these giant animals. Other extraordinary animals found in the Park are the Black Rhino, Cape Buffalo, various antelope species and, exclusive to the park, the flightless dung beetle.
Accommodation at this Addo Game Lodge is available in eleven spacious, luxury tents. Each tent is en-suite, has a private sitting area and a deck where guests can relax and gaze over the beautiful landscape of the bushveld. The tents lights are powered by solar power, making guests feel isolated from the rest of the world. They are also equipped with ceiling fans and in-house communication with the Main House.
Since being built in 1856, the Gorah House has been restored while still reflecting the elegance of those times in the Addo region. The House provides a small library where guests can relax while reading a book on the area. Laze around in the cool water of the natural rock swimming pool on warm summer days or sit on the main verandah over looking a waterhole. The waterhole attracts a diversity of animal and bird life from the surrounding area. Dinner is served by candle light in the stylish dining room or on the verandah, where guests can enjoy the wildlife and their meal at the same time. Alternatively dinner can be enjoyed in front of a blazing fire, with the stars looking down on you, in the Boma.
