Mac Mac Falls is another waterfall that splashes through the Mpumalanga province. The twin falls tumble 65m into the Mac Mac River below. The viewing deck is reached by way of a steep path that climbs above the white surge of water.
Need Advice?Originally only a single stream, the miners of the 1883 Barberton Gold Rush blasted the cliff face to divert the falls. They sought access to the gold-bearing reef beyond the cascading deluge. Named after the community of Scottish miners that settled in the area, the falls bear the status of a South African national monument.
Located only a few minutes from the cozy town of Sabie, the falls provide a wonderful pit stop on a tour in the area. When blessed with warm and balmy weather, the Mac Mac Pools a short trip upstream provide a picturesque picnic post with braai facilities and clear natural pools ideal for swimming.
