Our Office & Vehicles

Our office is located in the eastern reaches of South Africa's capital city of Pretoria, from where we manage all our services.

Our Office

African Sky’s office is located in South Africa’s capital city of Pretoria. It provides the base from where our office team manages the company and communicates with potential clients on a daily basis. Being based in South Africa itself also ensures that we are able to manage on-the-ground operations in a timely and efficient manner. Because many of our safaris and tours depart from Johannesburg – less than an hour’s drive from the office – we are always a convenient distance away and equipped to handle any and all crises. Fortunately, our watertight pre-tour and -safari planning ensures that this is very rarely necessary.

Our office offers a welcoming space to our dedicated team of employees. Finely furnished in hues reminiscent of the bush, photographs of African landscapes and authentic African paraphernalia, the company's theme is evident throughout; luxury safaris and tours. The overall atmosphere is neat and sophisticated yet casual and amenable, enabling our team to function at their best. Though our clients hardly ever visit the office during their safari or tour, you are sure to receive a warm and friendly reception if you do – South African hospitality at its best.

The company employs a team of vibrant, experienced individuals that contribute to a working environment that is both effective and even-tempered. Though a decidedly small team, we believe quality trumps quantity every time. These committed individuals ensure a personal experience with an emphasis on attention to detail. We are not a large corporation with a regular staff turnover. You may frequently find that, if you were to return for another adventure with African Sky, you will enjoy the company of the same guide as previous years, or communication with the same dedicated salesperson.

Our office staff contingent consists of a general manager, sales manager, operations manager, webmaster, copy writer, administrative assistant and reservationist. They are here to ensure that every guest's holiday goes off without a hitch, from the moment you first visit the website to your departure after your safari or tour. Our devoted guides also frequently visit the office for feedback and debriefing. They assist in evaluating the properties utilized, quality of the destinations visited and gaging client satisfaction, ensuring that our office team is always up to date on the latest developments. Throughout the duration of your safari or tour, we will communicate with your guide on a daily basis. If you are not with a guide and experience any problem or have a query, our office team is always on standby.

African Sky ultimately exists to share our own inherent love of the African continent with the rest of the world, to ensure that each visitor leaves with the best experience imaginable. From the moment you step off the plane, you will be in our capable hands. The intrinsic integration of our staff and services means a seamless transition from one activity, accommodation or destination to the next. It is often daunting traveling to a country on the other side of the world that you have never visited before – there is so much to consider. Booking your safari or tour with African Sky is akin to having friends or family in the country you are visiting – a safety net of sorts. In fact, many of our past guests now regard our guides and office team members as friends.

Our Vehicles

African Sky owns and operates a fleet of vehicles consisting of the vehicle types listed below. During periods of peak demand, particularly over December, we also hire vehicles from various reputable car and bus rental companies. The vehicle you will travel in when booking your safari or tour with African Sky will always be comfortable and air-conditioned. At private game reserves, game drives are conducted in open 4x4 vehicles.

Toyota Hilux

Toyota Hilux

Up to three passengers can travel in the Toyota Hilux. These four-wheel drive vehicles have been specially fitted with equipment that make them ideal for traveling to the safari areas of South Africa, like the Kruger National Park. South Africans refer to this type of vehicle as a ‘bakkie’ – similar to the American ‘pick-up truck’, with the comfort of an SUV. The vehicle boasts a raised body which ensures high clearance on less manageable roads and more elevated game viewing. The leather interior contributes to the overall comfort. Interior features are standard – air bags, air-conditioning, heating, audio system, cup holders, etc.

Toyota Fortuner

Toyota Fortuner

The Toyota Fortuner is a comfortable SUV-type vehicle that is utilized for traveling parties of up to three clients. We make use of Fortuners in the southern part of South Africa in and around the city of Cape Town. When traveling overland to the Garden Route, the Fortuner is also our choice vehicle. Air-conditioning is accessible in both the front and rear seating of the vehicle. Seats are leather with adjustable headrests for your comfort. Safety features include everything we believe to be essential to ensure the safety of our clients - air bags, an anti-theft system, child lock, etc.

Toyota Quantum

Toyota Quantum

Groups of up to nine guests are comfortably transported in our air-conditioned Toyota Quantum vehicles. These comfortable minibus-type vehicles are used for larger groups traveling to South Africa together. The interior is incredibly spacious and comfortable, with leather seats, a high roof and central aisle for easy accessibility and movement. When considering all our vehicles, the safety of our clients is paramount. Being a larger vehicle, we will always ensure that the guide allocated to your group has considerable experience driving mini bus-type vehicles.

Hyundai h1

Hyundai H1

The Hyundai H1 vehicle offers very comfortable transportation for traveling parties of up to five guests. A large sliding door provides easy and convenient access to the rear seats. The considerable elevation of the vehicle’s seats also means that it is great for game viewing during guided overland safaris. The large vehicle is also surprisingly quiet, ensuring that you will not disturb wildlife and are able to approach to great but respectful proximity. Air-conditioning and a decent audio system make it ideal for long trips. Spacious, stylish and safe, even when the car is fully occupied passengers will never feel cramped or claustrophobic.
