Letaba Camp

The Letaba Camp, meaning “river of sand” is set on the southern banks of the Letaba River.
- 50 km from the Phalaborwa Gate.
- 5 hours' drive from Johannesburg
- Between the southern and northern boundaries of the Kruger National Park.
- The Goldfields Environmental Education Centre is also situated at the Letaba Camp

Accommodation at Letaba Camp
Accommodation at Letaba Camp includes 86 self-catering, air conditioned Bungalows mostly with 3 beds, including en-suite bathrooms and a fridge. Communal cooking facilities are also available. 5 Huts with a veranda. Each hut consists of 3 beds. Ablution and communal kitchen facilities are available. 10 Guest cottages with 6 beds, a living room, 2 bathrooms, open plan kitchen. All units are air-conditioned and are handicap friendly. 20 Cemented floor and shaded Safari Tents, either 2 or 4 beds are also available. Each Safari tent has a fridge; electrical lighting and the guests can make use of the communal ablution. 50 Camp/caravan sites are available, each with power points and include the use of the communal ablution that the camp provides. Fish Eagle and Melville are two of the luxurious guesthouses in the Letaba Camp. Both can accommodate 8-9 people and the guests have exclusive rights to the bird hide. 10 Bush camping site are also available for the true camping devotee.
Activities at Letaba Rest Camp
Including a Laundromat, Grocery store and communal kitchen, surrounded by thick Mopane bush, and close to three major dams, this camp is ideal for any nature aficionada. The Nambu Restaurant with its exquisite meals and serene setting overlooking the Letaba River will sooth every guest.
The camp also has a natural history museum, elephant hall (with 3-D displays) and riverside walk. Just outside the camp you will find the Mingerhout dam, Masorini ruins, and the Matambeni bird hide.
Letaba Rest Camp also offers a 2 day trail hike down the Olifants River. Additional offerings include a 3 hour night drive under the spectacular Southern skies. Bush Braai's are also accessible.
The Matambeni hide on the northern bank of the Engelhardt dam is the ideal setting for bird watching. Buffalo's, Lions, Cheetahs, and Monkeys are indigenous to the Letaba area. The water attracts other animals such as Elephants, Impalas', Waterbucks and Bushbucks.
The scenic Masorini hill is situated just 39 km from Letaba.
