Day 1: Overberg Guests are met at any location of their choice in Cape Town from where the tour makes its way to Hermanus. En route we traverse the towns of Rooi Els and Betties Bay following one of the most scenic coastal routes in South Africa. En route several stops are made at vantage points from where the scenery can be enjoyed. During the months of June to November these waters are frequented by the Southern Right whale and the stops could afford the opportunity of viewing these magnificent creatures.
Overnight: Ouberge Burgundy
Meals: Dinner
Day 2: Overberg A morning visit is made to the Hamilton and Russell Vineyards which are situated a stone's throw from Hermanus in the Heaven and Earth Valley. This fine wine estate is world renowned for the excellent Pinot Noir and Chardonnay wines it produces. The afternoon is spent in Walker Bay visiting various vantage points from where the whales can potentially be spotted. An optional watching cruise could also be enjoyed during the afternoon. The whales do however often come very close to shore and the boat cruises can be a disturbance to the creatures.
Overnight: Ouberge Burgundy
Meals: Breakfast, Dinner
Day 3: Departure
A late morning is followed by a return journey to Cape Town via the apple producing regions of Grabouw and Elgin where we make a stop at one of the warehouses involved in storing the apples. It is fascinating in the sense that all of the oxygen in these storage facilities is replaced by a mixture of gasses which make it possible to preserve apples for more than a year. The tour then travels back to Cape Town via Sir Lowry's Pass cut into the Hottentots Holland mountains.
