Self-drive Tour

The Extensive South African Self Drive Tour offers guests the opportunity to explore a major measure of the country on a self-drive adventure.

Clients are met upon arrival at O R Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg by a representative of African Sky Safaris & Tours, who will present them with their 21 Day Extensive South African Self-Drive Tour itinerary, a map book of South Africa and a GPS. At this time, clients are also presented with accommodation and other relevant vouchers which they will require on their self-drive tour. Clients are then assisted in obtaining their rental vehicle before making their way to the Mpumalanga Highlands.

After an evening spent amidst the forests of Mpumalanga, you'll continue on to the world-famous Kruger National Park, where you'll enjoy five nights and six days on a self-drive safari. You'll experience two different areas of the park within its southern reaches, for a convenient yet still comprehensive Kruger Park safari. As you'll be spotting animals all on your own, keep your eyes peeled and always obey the rules of the park.

Following your safari in Kruger, you will return to Pretoria and spend an evening at a guest house before boarding a flight to Cape Town the next day. Four nights are spent in Cape Town, with an additional two nights in the Cape winelands town of Franschhoek, ensuring ample time to experience the Mother City's highlights as well as its surrounds. You will then travel through the semi-arid Little Karoo en route to the Garden Route region. A stop at the Cango Caves is always a highlight.

With three nights to enjoy in the Garden Route, you'll be spoilt for choice with regards to your activities. Enjoy an elephant interaction, cruise across the Knysna Lagoon, hike in the Tsitsikamma forests or simply unwind on the beach. En route back to Cape Town, you'll spend an evening in charming little Arniston, a quiet seaside town known for its breathtaking sand dunes and the very unique Waenhuiskrans Caves.
