These Falls are regarded as one of the worlds natural wonders. They occur in the Zambezi River, are approximately 1.7km wide and plummet between 107 to 108m to the river gorge far below. The border is then crossed into Botswana as the safari makes its way to the Chobe National Park. |

Day 2: Chobe
The Chobe River, which flows along the Northeastern border of the park is a drinking spot for large herds of elephant, buffalo and other mammal species during the dry season. The area is characterized by lush plains and dense teak forest. Elephant can often be spotted swimming between the Islands found in the river in search of good grazing. The day is devoted to two open 4X4 safaris accompanied by an experienced ranger and tracker exploring the wonders of this wilderness area and gaining some insight into the habits and behavior of the animal species which are protected in the Chobe National Park. The Chobe National Park is one of the most popular Botswana Safari areas. |

An afternoon sunset cruise on the Chobe River offers a unique vantage point from which to view the herds of antelope and elephant as they approach the waters edge for a late afternoon drink. The Savute Marsh is the relic of a large inland lake that dried up millions of years ago when its water supply was cut off by tectonic movements. The erratic Savute Channel which is lined by dead trees provides a water supply to the region. The region is characterized by rolling savannah grassland. Large herds of Wildebeest, Zebra, Impala and pass through the area and attract great numbers of predators. Savute is the only area in Africa where Lion prey on mature elephant. This rare phenomenon has been captured on film by world renowned wildlife photographers Dereck and Beverly Joubert. The Okavango River , which rises in the highlands of Angola, never reaches the sea. Instead, its mighty waters empty over the sand of the Kalahari. Here the thirst land of the south meets a blue-green wilderness of fresh water, with emerald reed beds and towering trees. The late afternoon is devoted to a first game experience accompanied by experienced rangers and trackers in an area where the wilderness and the species that grace it have largely survived untouched by time and humanity |

The Okavango , hunted by the Bushmen for as long as 10,000 years can be described as one of the most beautiful and unique of all Africa's wildlife refuges. It supports the greatest diversity of animals of all Botswana's National Parks and it is the only place in the world where the waters of a great river vanish into the sands of a harsh landscape, creating a unique oasis. |
