Greater Kruger and Zululand Safari - 7 Days (Code S19) |

The Greater Kruger and Zululand safari combines two of the finest safari areas in South Africa. The safari departs from and returns to Johannesburg.
A safari is first conducted in the Sabi Sand Private Game reserve which forms part of the Greater Kruger National Park before traveling on to the Phinda Private Game reserve in northern KwaZulu Natal. In both areas two open 4X4 safaris are conducted daily accompanied by experienced rangers and trackers.

South Africa Safari Itinerary |

Day 1: Greater Kruger National Park
Guests are met upon arrival at Johannesburg International Airport or any other location of their choice in Pretoria or Johannesburg from where they are transferred to their charter flight bound for the Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve. The reserve is approximately 65 000 hectares in extent and is named after the two principal rivers which flow through it. Most of South Africa's finest safari lodges are situated here. The afternoon is devoted to a first open 4X4 safari accompanied by an experienced ranger and tracker. The game drive extends into the early evening when the predators in the area become active. |

Day 2: Greater Kruger National Park
The sounds of the African wilderness awakening to another day, fill the air as guests enjoy an early morning game drive admiring the antelope, predators and birds which are endemic to this conservation area. The safari returns to camp for a late breakfast after which a bush walk is conducted by an armed ranger for those who wish to explore the area on foot. Some time is then set aside for relaxation before embarking on a late afternoon, early evening game drive. |

Day 3: Greater Kruger National Park
The ever-changing moods of this land will capture your soul as the day is once again devoted to exploring this wilderness area from the back of open 4X4 vehicles or on foot during the bush walk. The lesser creatures of the land, though not as well known contribute as much to the ecosystem. Great delight can often be found from witnessing these creatures as they go about their daily routines. All life and the delicate balance that exists between them is protected in this area which is a treasure over which we should be wise custodians. |

Day 4: Zululand Safari
A last morning game drive in the Sabi Sand is followed by breakfast after which guests are transferred to a local airstrip for a charter flight to Phinda Private Game Reserve set in the Maputoland region of northern KwaZulu Natal. The reserve borders the Greater St Lucia Wetland Park which has been declared a world heritage site. After some time for freshening up the late afternoon is devoted to a first Zululand safari in this unique reserve.

Day 5: Zululand Safari
The day is devoted to two open 4X4 safaris and a bush walk. The reserve is 17 500 Hectares in extent and has the unique distinction of encompassing no less than seven distinct habitats ranging from the Ubombo Mountain section to rare sand forests. An abundance of wildlife is protected in the Phinda Reserve which is also home to the Big Five and is generally regarded as the finest safari area in Zululand.

Day 6: Zululand Safari
The illusive Nyala which is regarded by many to be amongst Africa's most beautiful antelope should be seen on the morning safari which could also afford a glimpse of the Red Duiker as it rushes between thickets. Both of these species are endemic to northern Kwa Zulu Natal and are protected at Phinda. They will almost always be sighted when on safari in Zululand. Other highlights of the day could include sightings of one of the Big Five.

Day 7: Departure
A last morning game drive in this wilderness area is followed by a breakfast after which guests are transferred to Richards Bay Airport for a flight to Johannesburg. Guests are met upon arrival at Johannesburg International Airport (O. R. Tambo) and are transferred to any location of their choice in either Johannesburg or Pretoria. |
