The two Sabi Sand Lodges Safari focus on the premier private game reserve which is located in the Greater Kruger National Park. This reserve is the birth place of sustainable eco tourism in South Africa and it is regarded as the finest game viewing area in South Africa.

Three nights are spent at Mala Mala Main Camp before traveling to Lion Sands River Lodge. Two open 4X4 safaris are conducted daily from both lodges, offering guests the opportunity of viewing a large number of mammal, plant and bird species.

Kruger Combination Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Mala Mala Private Game Reserve Guests are met upon arrival at O. R. Tambo International or any other location of their choice in Johannesburg from where they are transferred to a flight bound for the Mala Mala Private Game Reserve. Mala Mala is the largest Private Big Five Reserve in South Africa. It shares a 19 km unfenced border with the Kruger National Park and offers exceptional game viewing opportunities. The late afternoon is devoted to a first open 4X4 safari at Mala Mala. This reserve lies sandwiched between the Sabi Sand and the Kruger National Park.

Day 2: Mala Mala Private Game Reserve Mala Mala has the distinction of being the first private reserve to offer luxury photographic safaris in South Africa. The rangers who will conduct the two game drives and bush walk on this day are all educated in the natural sciences and are able to provide a detailed and in depth understanding of the various mammal, plant and bird species which are protected in the Mala Mala Private Reserve.

Day 3: Mala Mala Private Game Reserve The day is once again devoted to experiencing the natural wonders at Mala Mala on an early morning and late afternoon game drive. There are very few places in Africa if any which offer the frequency and diversity of Big Game sightings with which Mala Mala can boast. The Big five are spotted at Mala Mala with on an almost daily basis.

Day 4: Lion Sands Private Game Reserve A last morning game drive at Mala Mala is followed by a transfer to Lion Sands Private Game Reserve. The Lion Sands Reserve is one of the finest located in the Sabi Sand and is the only one the reserves in the Sabi Sand which has access to the Sabi River. The Sabi is the largest of the rivers which flows through the area. During the late afternoon a fist Big Safari drive is conducted in search of the Lion , Leopard, Buffalo, Rhino and Elephant which roam the Lion Sands Reserve.

Day 5: Lion Sands Private Game Reserve The African dawn is filled with bird song and the sounds of a land awakening to the new day as a first open 4X4 safari is conducted by your experienced ranger and tracker. The possibility of finding predators on a kill made during the night adds to the excitement. The safari returns to camp for a late breakfast after which guests are allowed some time for relaxation or a bush walk before embarking on an afternoon safari which is extended into the evening.

Day 6: Lion Sands Private Game Reserve The ever changing moods of this land will capture your soul as the day is once again devoted to two open 4X4 safaris accompanied by an experienced ranger and tracker in the Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve. The Sabi Sand is home to no fewer than 330 tree species, 45 fish species, 30 amphibian species, 110 reptile species, 500 bird species and an incredible 145 species of mammal. The wildlife sightings in the Sabi Sand are amongst the finest in Africa. It is especially notable that this private reserve offers the greatest frequency of Leopard sightings on the African continent.

Day 7: Departure
A last morning game drive is followed by breakfast after which guests are transferred to Mala Mala Airstrip for a flight to Johannesburg. Guests are met upon arrival at O.R. Tambo Airport and are transferred to any location of their choice in either Johannesburg or Pretoria.
