Day 1-2: Mpumalanga Highlands
Guests are met upon arrival at O.R. Tambo International in Johannesburg from where the South African Honeymoon makes its way east , traversing the towns of Witbank and Belfast en route to Dullstroom. Before reaching Dullstroom a visit is made to the bird of prey and rehabilitation center where a large number of different Raptor Species can be viewed. Dullstroom dates back to the early 1880's when Dutch Settlers made their way to the place of "eternal mist". The town is situated at 2100 m above sea level, making this one of the highest towns in the country. The architecture in the town is a mixture of 19th and 20th century building designs. A short distance outside Dullstroom is the Walkersons Highland Estate, one of the finest country estates.
Guests spend two nights at Walkersons with breakfast and dinner included daily. The rooms are completely private and each has its own cosy fireplace. The atmosphere at the estate is warm and comfortable, yet the decor and detail exudes the feel ing of royalty. All the rooms have a view of the lake, and all the comforts one might expect from such a luxurious estate. All rooms have a fully stocked fridge and private patio with a lakeside view, where a sundowner can be enjoyed, while watching the magnificent sunset over the lake. A wide variety of country pursuits are available on the estate which also offers a spa. Walkersons is the ideal romantic country getaway |

Guests are met after breakfast. The morning is devoted to visiting the highlights of the Panoramic Route. On entering the Panoramic Route via Long Tom Pass from Lydenburg, at 2,149 meters above sea-level we travel along the highest tarred road in South Africa. The Pass is named after an old cannon used in the Anglo Boer War and referred to as the Long Tom. From the crest of Mount Anderson look down 1,000 meters to South Africa's largest man made forest.
Stops are then made at Gods Window, with its sweeping views of the Lowveld Region as well as the Triplet peaks of the Three Rondavels, one of the most scenic views of the Blyde River Canyon, third largest of all the worlds canyons. The safari then crosses and descends the Eastern Escarpment and makes its way to the heart of South Africa's Big Five Country and the Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve which forms part of the Greater Kruger National Park. A late afternoon game drive is conducted on open 4X4 vehicles accompanied by a local ranger and an experienced tracker, in this African Honeymoon Safari area.
Guests spend three nights at Arathusa, well known for its intimate atmosphere, on a full board basis. Two game drives and a bush walk are included daily. The Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve, where Arathusa is situated, is arguably the finest game viewing area in South Africa. You can even relax in the infinity swimming pool, in full view of the waterhole, for amazing game watching. Scenic African sunsets, and the privacy only a small intimate lodge can offer, are amongst the delights which can be enjoyed on this honeymoon safari.

Day 7-9: Cape Town
Guests are met after breakfast from where this day of your South African Honeymoon is devoted to exploring the Cape Winelands. The stark contrast between vineyards and rugget mountains, create the perfect backdrop to a tour of the historical town of Stellenbosch. The town is the oldest in South Africa after Cape Town, and is undoubtedly the most scenic, with the atmosphere of oldenday romance. Oak-lined streets next to water furrows compliment the many fine examples of elegant Cape Dutch, Victorian and Georgian architecture - all part of this unique "Town of Oaks".
The town, ideally situated in a magnificent mountain valley, boasts a mild Mediterranean climate. The Stellenbosch Wine route is the oldest, largest, and probably the most visited of the Southwest Cape’s wine routes. Many of the estates are very old, their gabled, whitewashed Cape Dutch Homesteads, rolling vineyards and shade-dappled grounds are lovely beyond measure. We visit two of these fine estates where the art of wine making in South Africa is experience first hand. A large variety of cultivars can be sampled and selected. The cosy reataurants and romantic tea gardens, offers delicious and intimate meals for luch and dinner.
During the late afternoon we reach the overnight destination set in Camps Bay, one of Cape Towns most attractive beachfront suburbs. Camps bay is nestled between the ocean and the rigid mountains which characterize the Western Cape. Atholl House is set within walking distance of the beach and the shopping and entertainment options in Camps Bay. Guests spend three nights here with breakfast included daily. A host of different entertainment options area available in the area. Not least being relaxing on one of Cape Town's premier beaches. |
