Sediba Lodge is located in the Welgevonden Private Game Reserve. Welgevonden is situated in the Waterberg Region of South Africa, which is known for a diversity of vegetation types, ranging from open plains to rock valleys. Sediba means ‘spring’ or ‘source’ in the traditional Sotho language. Sediba consists of two lodges, namely Letlapala and Letlapa. Letlapala means ‘the place of the Sun’ in Sotho, and is situated on a hill with spectacular views over the Welgevonden Reserve.
Letlapa, meaning ‘rock’, is situated in a valley with a recurrent stream running through it.
Letlapala has five double suites and Letlapa consists of 10 double suites. The suites at Letlapa and the public areas are connected by boardwalks. All suites, at both lodges, have open plan bathrooms and their own lounges, with a fire place to warm up the cold winter evenings. Each suite also has its own viewing deck overlooking the Waterberg Mountains. The decks have a built-in Jacuzzi where guests can relax in the bubbles while nature looks upon them.
Meals can be enjoyed at various locations at the lodges; on the main deck overlooking the bushveld, in the dining room or in the traditional boma, with a crackling fire creating the atmosphere. There are always tree meals served every day as well as High tea in the afternoon. The lodge can also provide a private candlelit dinner, in guests' suites or on the suites viewing deck. An on-site wine cellar provides guests with a selection of wines to accompany their meals.
Other than your expected wildlife species like elephant, rhino, leopard, zebra and giraffe, one can also find the rare black-backed jackals and the brown hyena, to name but a few. As wildlife is quite abundant the twice daily game drives is quite a treat and guaranteed not to disappoint. There are also game walks where guests may enjoy a closer view of local fauna and flora. So weather you prefer to enjoy game viewing from a Land drover or a private hide, you are sure to enjoy observing the variety of game and birdlife Sediba Lodge and Welgevonden has to offer. |
