Savute Elephant Camp, set amongst giant acacia trees, is a located in the Savute area of the Chobe National Park.  Chobe is famous for its high concentration of elephants and therefore, Savute Elephant Camp gets its name from the parks largest inhabitants.  Savute is an area with very little rainfall and water is precious.  The Savute Elephant Camp is situated on the now flowing Savute Channel and has a water hole close to the camp, where elephants come to cool down during the hot days.

Savute Elephant Camp is situated in an oasis type setting where twelve luxurious tents form the safari accommodation.  Each tent has an en-suite bedroom with a luxurious four poster bed and a mosquito net, to keep the bugs at bay.  They also have air-conditioning, a mini bar and a small safe.  The tents are raised on wooden platforms and have a wooden deck, where guests can relax on easy chairs and hammocks. 

Dinner can be served in the traditional Savute Boma.  The Boma used to be a meeting place for tribal members, and traditional foods were served before or after these meetings.  Therefore guests experience culture and nature under a canvas of stars, when dining in the Boma at Savute Elephant Camp.  A covered dining area and lounge are also options for dinner time.  For relaxation guests can laze around in the pool, shop in the curio shop or visit the Savute Elephant Camp library.

Enjoy a very informative game drives in an open 4x4 vehicle, with promise of viewing a great multitude of wildlife. Drives are usually held in the early mornings and late afternoons as this is times that the animals visit the waterholes. Another fascinating activity is visiting the rock paintings of the historic San people, in the hills of the ancient  Baobabs.
