Shamwari Eagles Crag Lodge is situated in the Eastern Cape of South Africa in the malaria-free Shamwari Private Game Reserve, which is home to the famous 'big five'. The reserve can be easily accessed from Port Elizabeth, which is only a 45 minute drive from the reserve. The area is characterized by five different ecosystems, ensuring sightings of a diversity of animal and bird life. The reserve is situated along the Bushman's River, which attracts animals and birds in large numbers during the dry season. Eagles Crag is one of five lodges found in the Shamwari Private Game Reserve. Nine detached suites provide accommodation at Eagles Crag Lodge. The en-suite rooms have large fold-away glass doors opening on to a private deck with its own plunge pool. The deck offers spectacular views of the lush bush and guests can feel part of nature while relaxing in the cool waters of their plunge pool. Each suite is equipped with a bird spotting scope which is perfect when you have time for yourself, and want to enjoy the rich bird life in the area. Guests can also choose between an indoor or outdoor shower. The suites are connected to each other and the rest of the camp by raised wooden decks. The lodge has a spectacular spa with two treatment rooms, hydro bath, sauna and steam bath. Guests can relax in the spa or in the cigar lounge with a warm fire heating up the room. The lounge also has a bar where guests can order their favourite drink and unwind in front of the fire place. A selection of dining options are available, which include a dining room on the upper floor with a fire place and a balcony offering sweeping views of the cliff, a lower level deck and a boma. In the boma guests are served a delicious meal under the star studded African Sky. There are various activities like game drives, where you may experience, learn about and enjoy the very best of African wildlife. Shamwari Eagles Crag Lodge is focussed on conservation and has two Born Free Big Cat Sanctuaries, and visitors are always welcome to visit and learn more about this initiative. There are also game walks held daily, where your experienced ranger will expose you to the very essence of Africa in its smallest detail. |
