Elephant house is an Eastern Cape Game Lodge situated close to the malaria-free Addo Elephant National Park. It is just 40 minutes from Port Elizabeth Airport. This lovely colonial farmhouse, used to be a magnificent race horse stud farm, which was transformed into this impressive game farm, with some of the highest concentration of game in the area. Guests are sure to see elephant in the park as it is home to four hundred of these extraordinary creatures. Other species also found in the Park are the Black Rhino, Cape buffalo, various antelope species and, exclusively to the park is the flightless dung beetle. The Elephant House consists of nine en-suite bedrooms. Each bedroom opens onto a courtyard and each has a private veranda. The rooms are decorated in a colonial theme with antique furniture, thick carpets and just a touch of African flavour. The rooms create the perfect blend of comfort and luxury. Children are very welcome at the Elephant House. The property has two cosy cottages which are perfect for families, and allows you to even cook your own breakfast in your own private garden, under the vines. The cottages are decorated in the same style and flair as the main house. On warm summer days guests have a choice of swimming pools to cool off in and to keep the children entertained. Elephant House has an in-house chef which serves delicious light lunches and sumptuous three course candle lit dinners, accompanied by a selection of famous wines from the Cape. The Elephant House offers guests game drives in an open land cruiser or, alternatively, they can book guests on open game drives with the Addo Elephant National Park Rangers. Day trips to nearby reserves, horseback safaris, canoeing on the river, helicopter trips to the beach, historical and agricultural trips and tours in the valley are also offered at the lodge. Kirkwood, which has a beautiful golf course, is only 30km away from the Elephant House. For a more independent outing, guests may visit one of the many private game reserves in the area.
