Guests are met at the airport or any other location in Cape Town. Table Mountain is first on the agenda as we embark on a cable car ride to the top of the mountain. Table Mountain has come to be synonymous with Cape Town and is one of the world’s most recognizable landmarks. Standing 1086m tall, the summit of the Mountain offers guests unsurpassed views of the city of Cape Town, Robben Island and the peninsula. Unique species of Fynbos are on display and the Table Mountain national park is home to quite a few mammal species. Day 2: Cape Town
A short ferry ride from the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront brings guests to Robben Island. This infamous Island only 574 Ha in extent , measuring 3,5 by 2 km, has played an important role in South Africa's long and turbulent history. Views which can be enjoyed off the Cape Peninsula and the South African mother city make the ferry ride quite an enjoyable experience. Home to President Nelson Mandela for a large part of his 27 year incarceration, the prison has since been turned into a museum and the tour is conducted by an ex political prisoner who has had first hand experience of the conditions on the Island. Visits are made to the prison building as well as to the lime stone quarry where the prisoners where forced to work. Some wildlife have been re-introduced to the Island and a glimpse might be enjoyed of one of Africa's animals in these surroundings. The duration of the Robben Island excursion including the return ferry ride is about four hours which would bring guests back to the V& A Waterfront around lunch time. During the afternoon we explore the waterfront before heading back to the overnight destination during the late afternoon.

Day 3: Cape Town
The spectacular Chapman's Peak drive cut into the 650m high Chapman's Peak leads the tour through the Town of Noordhoek to the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve. A botanical and scenic delight the reserve is home to several antelope species as well as a great diversity of flowering plants and birds. A highlight is sure to be the walk to the summit of Cape Point , where it is said the stormy waters of the Atlantic are met by the calming influence of the Indian Ocean. This Cape which has played such a central role in the tales and legends of the ocean was and remains an important landmark situated at the South Western Edge of Africa, proclaiming that this is where the two halves of the world, east and west meet.
The tour traces the Indian Ocean Seaboard on the way back to Cape Town with a visit to Boulders Beach an attractive secluded haven, which comprises a tumble of huge round rocks on a sandy shore. The boulders are an ideal vantage points for watching the antics of the colony of mainland-based African penguins. |

Day 4: Cape Town
First on the agenda are the oldest gardens in South Africa, namely the Company Gardens. It was established in early 1652 by Jan van Riebeeck as a vegetable garden originally closer to the coast. In a bid to plant in more fertile soil and on ground sheltered from the wind, he moved his garden with its northern boundary on Whale Street, and this is where it stands today. The large public park and botanical garden is home to a rose garden, Japanese garden, fish pond and aviary.
We then visit the Cape Town Castle and the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens. Kirstenbosch is nestled at the foot of Table Mountain and includes a large, indoor greenhouse exhibiting plants from a number of different regions, including savanna, fynbos, karoo and others. Outdoors, the focus moves to plants native to the Cape region, highlighted by the beautiful collections of proteas. Some time is then allowed for lunch before visiting the District Six Museum District Six named after the Sixth Municipal District of Cape Town, was established in 1867. Originally established as a mixed community of freed slaves, merchants, artisans, laborers and immigrants, District Six was a vibrant center with close links to the city and the port. By the beginning of the twentieth century, however, the history of removals and marginalization had begun. The first to be 'resettled' were black South Africans, displaced from the District in 1901. As the more prosperous moved away to the suburbs, the area became the neglected ward of Cape Town. The museum will offer insight into the history of the area.

Oak-lined streets next to water furrows compliment the many fine examples of elegant Cape Dutch, Victorian and Georgian architecture which is on display. Some time is devoted to exploring the town before venturing into the surrounding Winelands.
The Stellenbosch Wine route is the oldest, largest and probably the most visited of the Southwest Cape’s wine routes. Many of the estates are very old, their gabled, whitewashed Cape Dutch Homesteads, rolling vineyards and shade-dappled grounds are beautiful beyond measure. We visit two of these fine estates where the art of wine making in South Africa is experienced first hand. A large variety of cultivars can be sampled and specific cultivars which appeals to your palette are sure to be found. During the late afternoon the tour makes its way to the overnight destination in Franschhoek.
