Day 2: Cape Town
After breakfast the tour makes its way to Langa, one of the oldest townships in the Cape. On a walk trough Langa, you will meet some of the locals, visit the markets, stop at a crèche and even visit a local “Sangoma” traditional healer. A visit is also made to a local Shebeen, after which we experience life in Langa as we visit one of the shacks which the locals call home. The focus of the Langa township tour is to offer guests a first hand experience of life in one of South Africa’s townships.
Your experienced guide will explain the culture and social structures which are prevalent on the Cape Flats and will provide a unique insight into the history and economic aspirations of the area and its inhabitants. The tour makes its way back to Cape Town during the late afternoon. Guests are sure to have a new appreciation for the life that so many of us take for granted.

Day 3: Cape Town
A short ferry ride from the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront brings guests to Robben Island. This infamous Island only 574 Ha in extent , measuring 3,5 by 2 km, has played an important role in South Africa's long and turbulent history. Views which can be enjoyed off the Cape Peninsula and the South African mother city make the ferry ride quite an enjoyable experience. Home to President Nelson Mandela for a large part of his 27 year incarceration, the prison has since been turned into a museum and the tour is conducted by an ex political prisoner who has had first hand experience of the conditions on the Island. Visits are made to the prison building as well as to the lime stone quarry where the prisoners where forced to work. Some wildlife have been re-introduced to the Island and a glimpse might be enjoyed of one of Africa's animals in these surroundings. The duration of the Robben Island excursion including the return ferry ride is about four hours which would bring guests back to the V& A Waterfront around lunch time. The afternoon is devoted to exploring the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront. |
