Whale Watching Tour - 3 Days (Code CT7)
The Whale Watching Tour focuses on the coastal part of South Africa's Overberg Region. The tour departs from and returns to Cape Town. It explores the area from a base in the town of Hermanus which is located about two hours drive from Cape Town.
The area offers the most dramatic coastal scenery in South Africa and the waters are frequently visited by the Southern Right Whale, from May to November. Hermanus is reputed to be the best place in the world for land based whale watching.
Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Hermanus
Guests are met at any location of their choice in Cape Town from where the Whale Watching Tour makes its way to Hermanus, traveling through the towns of Rooi Els and Betties Bay following one of the most scenic coastal routes in South Africa. Several stops are made at vantage points to enjoy the spectacular scenery. From June to November the waters around Hermanus are frequented by the Southern Right Whale and the stops will be made in order to watch these magnificent mammals as they frolic near to the shore. The overnight destination of Hermanus is reached during the afternoon. The town is situated on the shores of Walker Bay with sweeping views over the Indian Ocean, and behind the town rugged mountain scenery ads to the natural splendour of this area.

Day 2: Hermanus
A morning visit is made to the Hamilton and Russell Vineyard which is located a stone's throw from Hermanus in the Heaven and Earth Valley. This fine wine estate is world renowned for the excellent Pinot Noir and Chardonnay wines it produces. The afternoon is spent in Walker Bay visiting various vantage points from where the whales can potentially be spotted. A whale watching cruise is included giving you the opportunity of see the Southern Right Whales really close up.

Day 3: Departure
The morning is devoted to the return journey to Cape Town stopping at the apple producing regions of Grabouw and Elgin where a tour is conducted at one of the apple storage warehouses. Here an explanation of the process of how apples are stored and preserved for over a year is given. The tour then travels back to Cape Town via Sir Lowery's Pass crossing over the Hottentots Holland mountains.
