Sossusvlei Desert Lodge

Located in the Namib Rand Nature Reserve of Namibia, is a beautifully sophisticated lodge, the Sossusvlei Desert Lodge. The NamibRand Nature Reserve shares a border in the west with the Namib-Nauklift National park, and to the east is the impressive Nubib Desert s. Close to the lodge is the glorious red dunes of Sossusvlei and desert creatures like the rare Oryx Antelope call this desert home as well as meany other species and insects. The Namib also boast with a fascinating plant life, some found only in this area 

At the foot of a Mountain is the Sossusvlei Desert Lodge, ten spacious stone and glass desert villas are scattered with incredible views of a grass plain and the red dunes in the distance. Experience the glorious starlit sky in the comfort of your bed by gazing though the star-viewing skylight. Each glass-encased en-suite bathroom has an indoor and outdoor shower. A private verandah and split level lounge area with fire place forms part of the beautiful villa.

With the same stone and glass theme as the villas, the main lodge area of the Sossusvlei Desert Lodge is split into levels. The Main Lodge area boasts with quiet hideaways, viewing decks, a bar and a dining room with a well stocked wine cellar. The lounge area leads onto a verandah and a library equipped with books and CD's provide interesting information about the area. An observatory is provided at the main lodge where guests can spend hours exploring the night sky, as the stars seems twice as bright in the desert. A pool and safari shop is also situated at the main complex of the Sossusvlei Desert Lodge. Sossusvlei has twice daily nature drives and also offer quad bike expeditions on established trails. For a closer look at the unique fauna and flora of the dunes, take a dune walk with an experienced guide, or at some extra cost, enjoy a picnic excursion between the dunes.
