Savute Elephant Camp

The Savute Elephant Camp is situated in the well known Chobe National Park.  Chobe is famous for its high concentration of Elephants and therefore Savute Elephant Camp gets its name from its biggest inhabitants. Savute is an area with very little rainfall and water is precious. The Savute Elephant Camp is situated on the now dry Savute Channel and has a water hole close to the camp where Elephants can be seen playing in the water.

Set in an oasis type setting, twelve luxurious tents form the accommodation at Savute Elephant Camp. Equipped as an en-suite bedroom with a four poster bed and a mosquito net, nature and luxury are brought together. The tents offer all the luxuries of a suite including air conditioning, mini bar and a small safe. The tents are raised on wooden platforms and have a wooden deck where guests can relax on the easy chairs and a hammock. All the tents have traditional thatched roofs, to provide shading from the African sun.

Dinner can be served in the traditional Savute Boma. The boma used to be a meeting place for tribal members and traditional food was served before or after these meetings. Therefore guests experience culture and nature under a canvas of stars when dining in the Boma. A covered dining area and lounge are also an option for dinner time in the Savute Elephant Camp. The lounge is available to guests all day long and there is always something exotic on offer to snack on. The chefs are always available to prepare light meals or just snacks to take with on the game drives. For relaxation guests can laze in and around the pool, shop in the curio shop or visit the library.
Apart from the elephants, the Savute has a high concentration of lions as well, up to 40 prides. There have also been many sightings of other predators such as the endangered wild dog, Leopard, cheetah and even hyena. Some very rare rock paintings can be seen, left by the early San bushmen that once inhabited the area.
