Satara

Satara, meaning ‘lasting impression’ is the third biggest rest camp in the Kruger National Park.  The area is an excellent game viewing area, with the bush relatively open and an abundance of animal life.  Satara is situated in the central Kruger National Park and is one of the best spots in the world for viewing Lion, Leopard and Cheetah.   With its fertile grassland, this area attracts vast herds of  Antelope and other grazers.

A variety of accommodation options is available at Satara.  The Satara camp has bungalows, guest cottages, guest houses and camp sites of which only the campsites have communal ablution blocks.  The other accommodation types all have their own bathrooms and most of them also have their own kitchen.  Guests can therefore choose anything from luxury, to self-catering accommodation or caravan and camping sites. The Satara Camp does have a wonderful restaurant, which serves dinner and breakfast. There is also a well stocked grocery store, to assist those opting for self catering holidays. Kids may visit the TV lounge for some television viewing.

Two bird hides, the Sweni Bird Hide overlooking the Sweni River and Ratel Pan Bird Hide overlooking the Piet Grobler Dam, offer spectacular bird watching opportunities at Satara.  Kids are entertained at the swimming pool and children's playground.  Private bush walks and game drives can be booked or guests can take part in the Sweni Wilderness Trail or the Mananga 4 x 4 Adventure Trail.
