Lower Sabi is set on the banks of the Sabie River in the southeastern Kruger National Park, at the foothills of the Lebombo Mountains. It takes its name from the nearby Sabi River - one of the few perennial rivers to flow through the Kruger National Park. Because of its ideal location so close to the river, one is ensured of game viewing all year round. The Lower Sabi Camp consists of a Luxury Guesthouse, bungalows under thatch as well as Guest cottages, huts, safari tents and campsites. The Guesthouse, bungalows and cottages have en-suite facilities and is air conditioned and serviced daily. There are also newly added semi-luxury two bedded tents. A great attraction is the recently introduced semi-luxury, romantic 2-bedded tents, perfectly positioned for maximum privacy and romance for honeymooners. Each tent is equipped with a small bathroom and kitchenette and some tents have a view of the river. The Lower Sabi Camp has a newly built restaurant and viewing deck, offering panoramic views of the Sabi River. This venue gives guests the opportunity of experiencing magnificent sunsets, while viewing different animals quenching their thirst in the river. There are lots of picnic spots nearby the Sabi Camp, of which the most popular is the Nkhulu (brilliant Leopard territory) and Tshokwane in the shade of the massive Sausage tree (named so after its large seed pods). Another picnic spot is in the Lebombo Mountains called Mlondozi, perfectly situated for a lunch break. Prepare a delicious picnic with one of the gas barbeques you may rent from the camp. Take a sunset drive and enjoy the emerging nocturnal species or stay in the camp and enjoy an educational wildlife film. During the hot afternoons guests may enjoy spending some time cooling off in the pool, or just lazing in the shade of the lush indigenous trees like the Sycamore fig tree, Natal Mahogany, Marula and many more. The park also boasts a wide array of bird species. Nhlambanyathi, a newly installed bird hide close to the camp, has a platform overlooking a tranquil pool, which is very popular with the local bird species. Any advent birder is sure to view a wide variety of species with excellent photo opportunities. The Lower Sabi Camp offers you a wide variety of wildlife for viewing. |
