Elephant House

Elephant House is situated close to the malaria-free Addo Elephant National Park and is just 40min from Port Elizabeth Airport. The park is found in the spectacular Sundays River Valley. Guests are sure to see the giant elephant in the park as it is home to four hundred of these extraordinary species. Other species also found in the Park is the Black Rhino, Cape buffalo and various antelope species. Exclusively to the park is the flightless dung beetle, which is fascinating to watch, as it maneuvers its dung ball over any terrain.

The Elephant House Lodge consists of nine en-suite bedrooms. Each bedroom opens onto magnificent courtyards and private verandahs. Decorated in a colonial and African theme, the lodge brings comfort and luxury together in beautiful antique furniture, and African art. Children are also welcome at the Elephant House. The property also has two cottages, which are perfect for families. They also boast a clubroom that is equipped with a TV, DVD library and laptop and games, to keep the children entertained, and give Mom and Dad a break. There are also babysitters available on request for the little ones.  On warm summer days, guests have a choice between two swimming pools to cool off in, and to keep the children entertained.

Elephant House has an in-house chef and serves delicious light lunches and scrumptious, three course, candle lit dinners. The dinners are accompanied by a selection of the famous wines from the Cape. The lodge offers their guest game drives in an open land cruiser, or alternatively, they can book for open game drives with the Addo Elephant National Park. Other activities on offer are day trips to nearby reserves, horseback safaris, canoeing on the river, helicopter trips, historical and agricultural trips and tours in the valley. Complimentary massage sessions are available in high season.  This may also include a manicure and pedicure. The golf fanatics will be pleased to hear that Elephant house is only 45 minutes drive from prestigious golf clubs such as; Kirkwood club, Bushnab Sands, PE Golf Club and Humewood Golf Club. Two kilometers away from the camp, you can find a polo club where they play polo in winter and cricket in the warm, summer months. For the guest in favor of a visit to the coast, the lovely beach of Cape St Francis is only an hour and a half away, with the beaches of Knysna and Plettenberg Bay only three hours away.
