Berg-en-Dal Rest Camp in the legendary Kruger National Park is situated on the bank of the Matjulu Spruit and is surrounded by rocky hillsides and a dam bordering the camp. Berg-en-Dal, meaning ‘mountain and dale,” was opened in 1984, aptly named for its superb location. A variety of grazers being attract by the natural vegetation in the camp area comprises Malelane mountain bushveld. Therefore great care has been taken to preserve it. Leopard and Wild Dog are often seen in the area, but are not the only species to be spotted. Species like White Rhino, Kudu, Impala, Giraffe, some Elephant, Reedbuck, Klipspringer, Grey Reebok and Warthog also love the vegetation in the surrounding area. Guest Houses, Family Cottages, Bungalows and Campsites host guests in Berg-en-Dal. All accommodation types except the campsites have their own bathrooms and kitchens or kitchenettes. The campsites share these facilities. Some of the bungalows are situated on the border with superb views of the bushveld. Guests can book a bush braai or breakfast and a game drive will be the means of transport to the venue. Alternatively the Berg-en-Dal Rest Camp offers guided bush walks and game drives. The Berg-en-Dal Rest Camp also has a restaurant, shop, Internet cafe and swimming pool. Traditional dancers from various cultural backgrounds that live in the area around the park, regularly entertain guests with their rhythmic dance moves and traditional music. Guests can take a stroll along the Bushman’s trail and admire the rock paintings that reflect Koi San way of life many years ago. With the new Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport only 25km (15,5 miles) away from Nelspruit, which is only half an hour’s drive from the Malelane Gate, it is not necessary to travel long distances to get to your destination. If you prefer to travel by car, Johannesburg is a mere 4 hours drive away. |
