Aquila Safari Lodge is a private game reserve that has a four star rating and is situated in the beautiful Klein Karoo’s Southern Mountain region in the Western Cape. The Lodge is only 2 hours drive from Cape Town along lovely scenic routes. Aquila was named after an endangered Black Eagle that breed in this area.
The reserve has luxury chalets fully equipped with all the amenities you’ve come to expect from a quality lodge. The cottages, as with all the buildings on this eco-friendly reserve, have been architecturally designed and styled to complement nature. Thatch, slate and natural rock elements are featured throughout, especially in the bathrooms. All chalets have tea and coffee making facilities, a mini bar, its own fireplace, fan and air conditioner. Each chalet has its own patio, built with the privacy of the guests in mind. Aquila Safari Lodge also boasts with a romantic Honeymoon Suite that is equipped with a Jacuzzi with breathtaking views of the reserve. For the business traveler, Aquila has a spacious conference center, which has the facilities to cater for about 40 to 80 delegates. The lodge also has a cigar bar and boma restaurant, that offers delectable local cuisine.
At Aquila Safari Lodge they offer a wide variety of activities that caters for every taste.
There are 4x4 game drives, guided safari walks and hiking trails, horseback safaris, quad bike safaris (to be arranged prior) and abseiling etc, for the more active tourist. For the more relaxed tourist there are bird watching, fishing, clay pigeon shooting, golfing or just relaxing at the nearby rock swimming pool. Also on offer is walking with lions or even viewing the unique Khoi San Bushmen rock art paintings.
The Klein Karoo Southern Mountains also has other attractions, for instance, visiting the beautiful Touwsrivier, or even the nearby town of Worcester. Cape Town is only two hours drive away or you can visit the Wine lands or Route 62. Don’t forget to buy your African souvenirs or locally manufactured memorabilia at the in house curio shop.
